I feel like a little like the late Phil Hartman in his role of "Cirroc ([ki:'rok])," the "Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer." For those that I've already lost, he was a recurring Saturday Night Live character; a thawed caveman who upon defrosting, attended law school and became a defense and personal injury lawyer. His main tactic was something like this: talk about something in the modern world that would "frighten or confuse" him e.g. "when I see a solar eclipse, like the one I went to last year in Hawaii, I think 'Oh no! Is the moon eating the sun?' I don't know. Because I'm a caveman -- that's the way I think." He would then clinch the case by saying: "there is one thing I DO know..." and then claim that his client is innocent or owed money. Now to finish my point, I feel like this because I'm now entering the new world of social networking, specifically blogging. I never joined "myspace" because I was married when I found out about it and it would just feel slimy being a married guy there. Same goes for "facebook." Thus, it's a strange new world of embedding graphics and video, creating play lists and editing html. I think: "Is Joe Cyberprowler going to find me and my family and/or ruin my credit? I'm just a blogging caveman, that's the way I think. But what I do know is that 1-this is the best way to stay in touch with family and friends, and 2-it also serves as a kind of family journal - 2 birds with one stone!" I guess this technology is here to stay so we might as well join the fun.
I must thank a few people. First to my sister-in-law Amy in whose footsteps we followed while she held our hand walking us through it (on second thought, the fact that she created the site in the first place with images and all is more like dragging, not holding hands - I'm just a caveman). Second to Rob, Lorena, Pace, Derek and Rachel, whose blogs I've enjoyed reading since their inceptions. Third, to JT without whom there would be no goat-chasing videos (which is the real purpose here no?) Without further ado...

hey scott, angie, jt,
thanks for your comments on our blog. it's good to see i (derek) am not the only one with goat lust. that was a pretty funny video of JT. funny story, i conspired to own a rickshaw and charge unsuspecting tourists an exorbitant amount of money because they would trust other ex-pats. unfortunately the logistics of buying and owning a rickshaw don't seem to be working out. anyway, we're thinking about you guys and look forward to seeing you in sept. hope angie and the baby are doing well. when is she due?
love,
rachel and derek
Horray! Your blog is amazing and video is hilarious! It is going to be great to have you in our blogging world.
Finally,
And it was actually funny. You never cease to amaze me Scotty...
Great start, Scott. The self-referential approach is always a good starting point. The challenge will be to find a stream of relevant, entertaining topics to transfer from thought to blog. All while making time for family and ESPN. But I have faith in you. Also, please put a parenthetical (Twainfecta) next to my name on your blog links. I'll link you up on mine.
